Democracy Project NYU Law | Economic inequality and the weakening of collective institutions have hollowed out the ability of everyday people to shape political life and counterbalance concentrated wealth. With membership organizations dwindling and economic power translating ever more directly into political influence, traditional avenues for civic engagement have eroded. Against this backdrop, strengthening the capacity for sustained, organized collective action emerges as a vital lever for revitalizing democratic participation and resilience in the United States.
